Day Shift



Under the general direction of the Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) provides professional occupational therapy procedures to patients, as prescribed by a physician, to assist them in achieving their maximum potential in functional activities. Administers treatment programs, under the direction of the OTR/L, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability injury and/or loss of body parts. Assists the OTR in developing short and long term goals and in developing a Plan of Care by: a. evaluating the patient' current level of functioning and potential for improvement, and by; b. documenting and submitting a progress note for each patient visit, with review by the OTR, performed as needed. Assists the OTR in the development and revision of the physician's Plan of Care by recording and reporting the patient's progress, reactions to the therapy program and changes in the patient's condition to the OTR, to other disciplines involved in the patient's care and to the physician. Under the direction of the OTR, directs the patient toward improving independence and physical and mental functioning by: a. guiding and instructing in prescribed therapeutic self-care and creative activities; b. establishing and providing training in ADL management activities; c. providing training in independent living skills and; d. instructing the patient and their caregivers in the overall occupational therapy program. Maintains records pertinent to the patient's care by: a. completing a progress note for each date of service that includes subjective patient findings, the treatment procedure and effects, and patient progress towards goals; b. participating in completing 30 day summary reports and c. participating in completing discharge summary reports. d. completes a daily charge sheet.

Under the guidelines of the ALSU policies and procedures and the direction of the Pre-Hospital Team Leader, performs and functions as a pre-hospital team member within the scope of current Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health protocol. Staffs BLS units participating in the leased EMT's program. Subject to staffing of the ALSU. Knowledge of Basic Life Support assessment and treatment of all age groups. Completes approved work lists at BLSU locations. Performs thorough equipment check of primary (BLS or ALS) vehicles at the beginning of each shift. Primary operation the ALSU vehicle to convey the vehicle and crew safely to and from scenes of ALSU dispatches when staffing ALSU. Utilizes all resource and education available. Attend appropriate continuing education to maintain certification as described by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health. Assists ALSU providers in patient care when assigned to ALSU, within approved scope of practice. Assists Emergency Department personnel as assigned but must remain available for immediate ALSU dispatches when staffing ALSU. Safe operation toward BLS unit and crew as needed. Demonstrates interest in fulfilling the mission of the hospital by participating in departmental goals. Creates positive climate within the department and at leased EMT services, and sets high performance standards. FLOATPOOL REGISTERED NURSE

Nursing Administration



Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Maximum of one year current clinical nursing experience in acute care required. Has knowledge and understanding of physical and emotional disease processes, clinical nursing skills and administration of medications for the acutely ill adult and/or pediatric patient. Current license to practice nursing in the state of Pennsylvania.Current CPR, ACLS, PALS, EKG monitor certification, IV certification.



Float Pool 32 Hrs. Per Pay 7:00 am - 7:00 pm 32 Hours minimum per two (2) weeks which includes:one (1) twelve hour weekend shift, eight (8) hours on a Monday and eight (8) hours on a Friday, One (1) major holiday per year.

PARAMEDIC

Under the guidelines of the ALSU policies and procedures and the direction of the Pre-Hospital Team Leader and the ALSU Medical Director, performs basic and advanced life support in the pre-hospital setting. Knowledge of competent assessment all age groups. Performs all procedures and utilizes skills associated with advanced life support as stipulated in Act-82 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Operates ALSU vehicle in a safe manner. Conduct equipment and supply inventory at the beginning of each shift. Conduct monthly inventory of medications, IV solutions, and sterilized items for expiration of dated shelf life. Shift charge person as scheduled. Performs EMT-P skills within the ED under direct supervision of ED attending. Subject to staffing of satellite ALSU unit (Medic 98), with rotation to other leased EMT units as needed. Deliver accurate relay of treatment and report to receiving facility staff. Demonstrates interest in fulfilling the mission of the hospital by participating in departmental goals. Under the general direction of the Director of Emergency Services, coordinates, plans, controls directs the clinical and administrative elements of the pre-hospital system and the interaction with the area BLS association. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develops and provides 24 hour clinical and administrative management of the pre-hospital system. Provides leadership to the patient care team of nurses, paramedics and technicians in the pre-hospital system. Collaborates with ALSU Medical Director in the quality assessment of ALSU staff as well as enhancement of systems issues. Participates with the Patient Services leadership team to promote the mission and realize attainment of goals and objectives and establish cohesive intradepartmental relationships. Evaluates and closely monitors departmental quality assessment indicators. Implements remedial action or education as required. In conjunction with ALSU associates, develops department goals and business plan and strives for 100% compliance. Utilizes time management skills by starting and ending meetings on time, utilize time in most effective manner possible, and monitor staffing patterns for maximum efficiency. Verifies staffing patterns for Medic 102, Medic-98 and leased EMT's. Continually monitors needs for satellite operations, special events or disaster situations. Researches, prepares and compiles operating and capital equipment budgets for most cost effective means.

Successfully completes AWHONN's two day course titled FHMPP. When in charge, staffs according to ACOG's recommended nurse/patient ratios, maintains patient activity/scheduled procedures book and delegates assignments appropriately.

Assists the Physician by performing a variety of technical and administrative duties in the Cath Lab to ensure a safe, efficient, and accurate procedure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. This description of job responsibilities is intended to reflect the general nature of the work to be performed. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties or skills required. Uses sterile technique to properly set-up for cardiac catherization procedures. Tray, injectors, transducer, and patient preparation are performed accurately. Performs pre-catheterization equipment checks. Calibrates and troubleshoots lab equipment with minimal assistance. Identifies any system warnings and takes appropriate action. Greets and communicates with patient, reviews patient teaching, assists patient during procedure and provides comfort measures as necessary, Assists the physician with all all aspects of the cardiac procedure. Ensures all applicable equipment is air/bubble free. Cautiously injects the coronary artery using contrast media with enough force to visualize coronary lesions. Recognizes changes in hemodynamics or electrocardiogram and alerts the physician . Records complete patient studies. Can analyze pressure recordings and calculate left ventricular ejection fractions. Documents pertinent procedural information correctly. Maintains required records, reports, files and statistics. Locates and hands off sterile supplies to scrub team. Assists with maintenance, set-up, insertion and operation of the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump and IAB catheter, including: zeroing, timing, identifying, alarms and corrective action. Administer medications found in the Cath Lab formulary. Medication is dispensed consistent with the physician's order. Observation of actions, side effects, or changes in vital signs are documented. Observes the patient for possible allergic reactions/complications. Utilizes proper radiation safety for self as well as patient. Removes arterial/venous lines without complication. Instructs patient of post procedure limitations and restrictions. Administers conscious sedation and recovers sedated patient.

Communicates effectiveness of perioperative intervention to the surgeon and other members of the health care team caring for the patient. Nursing Administration



Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Maximum of one year current clinical nursing experience in acute care required. Has knowledge and understanding of physical and emotional disease processes, clinical nursing skills and administration of medications for the acutely ill adult and/or pediatric patient. Current license to practice nursing in the state of Pennsylvania.Current CPR, ACLS, PALS, EKG monitor certification, IV certification.



Float Pool 32 Hrs. Per Pay 7:00 pm - 7:00 am 32 Hours minimum per two (2) weeks which includes:one (1) twelve hour weekend shift, eight (8) hours on a Monday and eight (8) hours on a Friday, One (1) major holiday per year.

RESPIRATORY THERAPIST

Respiratory Therapy



Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Pennsylvania. CPR within 90 days of hire.

Under the general direction of the department manager, participates in the provision of activities and services relating to direct patient care. Participates as part of the Emergency Team in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Administer IPPB therapy, aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, oxygen therapy (with or without humidity), pulse oximetry, obtain blood gases and analyze, CPAP/BIPAP therapy, artificial airway management, operation maintenance and management of mechanical ventilators and patient transportation (internal and external). Assess patients and give suggestions relative to the technical aspects of respiratory therapy to physicians. Effectively communicates with other departments. Instruct nurses in the use, control and general care of equipment when requested. Operation of all equipment in accordance with department and/or manufacturer's policy. Quality Control of all equipment. Equipment disinfection. Regular attendance at inservice programs and departmental meetings. Be familiar with hospital policy regarding safety regulation, personnel policies, etc. Other assigned duties as requested by the Medical Director or Department Head.

SURGICAL SERVICES NURSE EDUCATOR

Surgical Services



Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, with a BSN. Minimum of five years experience in Operating Room Nursing with advanced clinical skills and competency. Teaching experience is preferred and CNOR is preferred. Current CPR certification or within 90 days of hire. Holds a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania and AORN certification preferred.

Under the general direction of the Surgical Services Manager, The Clinical Educator will be a Professional Registered Nurse who is responsible for prescribing, delegating and coordinating nursing education in the Operating Room Suite. This is accomplished through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. This nurse effectively interacts with patients and other team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Evaluates educational needs and learning opportunities for all classifications of caregivers in the Operating Room. Coordinates the operating room education activities to meet the needs of staff development, new employee orientation, and new technology. Oversees the daily educational needs of associates in the operating room suite. Oversees the orientation of new staff members in order to meet operating room standard performance. Reviews skills check list and assigns preceptor as indicated. Focuses one on one with the new staff member on an individualized basis. Problem solves in order to support patient safety and satisfaction as well as staff nursing/physician satisfaction. Responsible for coordinating and conducting the educational experiences of all associates in the department. Performs periodic and final educational review of orientees performance and oversees the orientation process. Identifies the educational needs of all staff in coordination with the nurse manager. Develops and provides educational opportunities for staff in order to meet educational needs. Establishes competency requirements for the operating room. Develops and updates policy and procedure in cooperation with the nurse manager. Maintains clinical expertise by periodically providing direct patient care. Acts a resource and role model for staff and fosters staff professional growth and development. Certification in OR Nursing highly desirable. Coordinates the clinical learning experience for students from schools of nursing. Participates with instructing CPR for associates.

TEAM LEADER-ULTRASONOGRAPHER

Ultrasound



Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Council of Education program in ultrasound. Five years appropriate technical skills in ultrasound along with supervisory skills. Certification by the A.R.D.M.S. PACS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Works closely with Radiology Manager and Radiologist to supervise and perform technical procedures in the Department of Ultrasound. Coordinates the day-to-day activity of patient procedures for all ultrasound procedures and portable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The following description of job responsibilities and standards is intended to reflect the major responsibilities and duties of the job, but it is not intended to describe minor duties or other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time. Supervises sonographers to ensure the quality of work. Monitors the job performance of each sonographer on his/her shift. Completes all associate reports and records according to established time frames to include time and scheduling sonographers for mandatory in services. Manages the work flow of the department to ensure the completion of work assignments. Assigns workload to department staff, taking into consideration priority of work and skill of associate. Evaluates the quality of clinical care through observation. Maintains adequate inventory of all required special procedure supplies. Coordinates scheduling of ultrasound examinations with Radiology Office as required. Receives patients and explains procedure to them in order to obtain cooperation and allay anxieties during performance of procedure. It is the responsibility of the sonographer to continually assess the immediate needs and conditions of the patient by communicating with them. Acquires patient history and pertinent clinical data from available data sources and observes the patient in order to record any findings that may contribute additional information to the ultrasound evaluation (e.g. pregnancy, surgery, interfering medications, etc.). Performs sonographic imaging procedures determining: 1) appropriate position; 2) selection of proper equipment; 3) adjustment of equipment factors in order to obtain optimum diagnostic images for a variety of patient age groups including pediatrics, adults and geriatrics. Responsible to provide on call Ultrasound coverage. Responsible for maintaining current inventory of routine supplies. Maintains work areas in clean and orderly condition and ensures that examination rooms are properly supplied and equipped before each examination. Must maintain proficiency through continuing education as required by the A.R.D.M.S. Responsible for reporting defective equipment to Department Manager. Observes all departmental/hospital safety regulations pertaining to both associates and patients. Promotes and projects positive "Guest Relations" while performing all job duties. Aids in the administration of area policy and procedure. Assists in orienting and training new personnel where applicable. Adheres to hospital and department policies concerning confidentiality. Ultrasound Department



Must have completed an approved course of study leading to eligibility for certification by the A.R.D.M.S. Must pass A.R.D.M.S. certification test within 10 months from date of employment. Must maintain proficiency through continuing education. CPR within 90 days of hire.

Under the direction of a qualified physician, the diagnostic sonographer uses ultrasound instruments to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomic, pathologic, and functional data to aid the physician in the diagnosis of disease and/or injury. Coordinates scheduling of ultrasound examinations with Radiology Office as required. Receives patients and explains procedure to them in order to obtain cooperation and allay anxieties during performance of procedure.

UNIT COORDINATOR- RN

Home Care of York



Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Two (2) years of med/surg experience preferred. A Bachelor of Science degree in nursing or its equivalent is preferred. Prior Home Care experience required. Must have OASIS experience. Must have strong leadership potential and demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. CPR within 90 days of hire.

The Unit Coordinator plans, coordinates, supervises, and participates in patient care specific to the patient population served. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner and maintains relationships with patients, families, physicians and staff. Plans time well and manages work level, schedules and coordinates work effectively and reliably by organizing and prioritizing on a daily basis with reevaluation as needed.

VASCULAR ACCESS TECH

Lab



High school diploma or general education degree (GED); graduate of phlebotomy training program and/or equivalent experience; 3 to 5 years phlebotomy experience in an acute healthcare setting. CPT or Medical Assistant preferred.



PRN III

Under the direction of the Department of Pathology Medical Director, collects, transports and identifies blood and other body fluids for analysis by the laboratory. Insertion of peripheral intravascular devices including initial site care performed following appropriate training and successful completion of competency assessment program. Performs point of care laboratory testing within realm of responsibility. Following prescribed procedures, collects blood by venipuncture, labels tubes, slides and containers properly and accurately. Collects blood by proper capillary puncture when required and testing methodologies permit.

Provides coverage for the hospital switchboard, cashier area, use of the TTD line and coverage for the Welcome Center as needed. Interacts with patients, physicians and other hospital associates. Directs and/or escorts patients to other departments when needed. Prepares charts as needed.
