History
Memorial Hospital, a subsidiary of Memorial Health Systems, is a premier medical
center striving to enhance the health and well being of the York community. Our
philosophy has remained the same since our inception in 1945: devotion to personalized
and quality health care.
From our Family Birth Center to the Heart Center at Memorial, we continue to improve
our facilities, integrate new technologies into our operation and elevate the level
of care throughout York County.
The Memorial Family of Health Services includes Memorial Hospital, Greenbriar Medical
Center, HomeCare of York, Industrial Resource Center, Memorial Primary Care, Surgical
Center of York, and White Rose Hospice.
Mission
Memorial Hospital is committed to promoting, improving and enhancing the health
and well-being of the community we serve.
Vision
We are the provider of choice in our chosen specialties. As committed community
citizens, we are viewed as extended family by those we serve. An excellent value,
we are caring, friendly, convenient and efficient beyond our competition.
Operating with unbending integrity, we have built an environment that is conducive
to achieving our goals, thus our stakeholders including patients, physicians and
associates deliberately choose to be associated with us. We are efficient and perform
at a state-of-the-art level with technology that enhances the delivery of medical
treatment. Our financial plan projects a healthy future and is adjusted regularly
to reflect our progress and performance.
As a community hospital under local control, we are perceived as highly progressive.
Our best of class facility has the right blend of form and function and is visually
attractive, attracting people to our system. We have a board of high-level community
leaders who effectively fulfill their oversight responsibilities and positively
represent us in our service area.
We are the employer of choice. Our associates see us as fair, progressive, consistent
and flexible. Because we deal with them in an honest and open way, they feel secure
and enjoy the job satisfaction they need to provide superior patient care. We are
family-friendly and offer competitive compensation and outstanding opportunities
for professional education and career advancement.
Our physicians see us as progressive, keeping pace with changes in health care.
We are true partners with our physicians, seeking their input on our strategic direction
and valuing their contribution to our system. They are treated with the utmost respect
and are an integral part of our decision making process.
As a result of our strategic focus and hard work, we have increased our emergency
room visits and net patient revenue to achieve a consistent operating surplus of
4 percent or better. This ensures we remain financially secure and able to invest
to grow, attract new people and capitalize on future opportunities.
Commitment to the Community
Through direct donations to area nonprofits, volunteer hours by our associates,
free health screenings, educational classes on everything from child birth to diabetes
to tobacco cessation, advanced life support services , and charitable care for uninsured
and underinsured children and adults, we are making a difference in the lives of
area residents.
We are also having a positive effect on the local economy. As one of the area’s
largest employers, Memorial has more than 1,000 associates. Most of them live and
raise their families in this community, so they are spending money locally and contributing
to the local tax base.
