Community benefits that will be provided through affiliation with Community Health Systems are significant:
- Replacement Hospital. The purchase agreement includes a commitment to construct a new, replacement hospital in West Manchester Township. Planning will begin soon after the close of the transaction and construction will begin within 30 months. Specific details about the replacement hospital will be released following the close of the transaction.
- Stability. Providing a sustainable choice for quality health care in the York County community.
- Jobs. Hiring of all active employees in good standing at the time the transaction is complete, offering the same position and rate of pay, recognizing years of service, for a minimum of 12 months post-transaction close.
- Medical Care. Continuation of relationships with medical staff members and resources to recruit new physicians to the community.
- Charity Care. Continuation of charity care policies consistent with those currently in place.
- Local Leadership. Appointment of a local board of trustees comprised of members of the medical staff, the Hospital CEO, chief of the medical staff and community leaders, selected with guidance from the current MHS Board of Directors.
- New Revenue for the Local Economy. With this transaction, our hospital will become a tax-paying business, contributing substantial new tax revenue into the community we serve
- Physician Training. Continuation of the residency training programs.
